Who writes the Flatbush History site?

Oh. Hello. My name is Jen and I write this site as well as find the pictures and do my own original research. I’m not a professional historian, but I am a former book editor and history buff with a lot of research experience. I’ve lived all over the original town of Flatbush, including in Kensington, Ditmas Park, and Prospect Lefferts Gardens. Flatbush is a special place, and it should have a special site dedicated to its history. That’s why I created FlatbushHistory.com—omg, you’re here right now!—which is a labor of love and not a labor I do to pay the bills. As far as that’s concerned…I’m a freelance copywriter who helps businesses with their content and communications strategies, especially around websites. I’ve worked as a strategist with the agencies Huge, SYPartners, and The Charles; helped create communications for nonprofits Chicago Ideas, Outride, and The Black Lady Theatre; and written for Google, Twitter, Mailchimp, The Tony Awards, Bacardi, and Barnes & Noble. My writing has also appeared on The Huffington Post, Business Insider, Collider, Paste, StarTrek.com, The National Lampoon, and Points in Case. I’ve written numerous cookbooks (some as a ghostwriter for celebrities), used to have a blog that made fun of Lifetime movies, and was voted Best Storyteller in the 6th grade. I’m a licensed New York tour guide, and I have a BA in Writing, Literature, and Publishing from Emerson College. You can hire me to write for you! Find out more at my professional site.
